It will not often be deemed the most fun game in the arena of betting, but keno has huge amounts of devoted players. And it should! It’s a regularly exciting lottery-ish game that’s a snap to master, readily available in loads of different formats, and one that will yield millions for players who learn its uncounted subtle rules. But let’s start with the basics here.
When explaining keno to novices, some wagering masters compare it to the lottery. This is at least to some extent correct, in that each game is generally numerical. However, to take that comparison too far might be to minimize the good many unique characteristics that make keno so entertaining. Not like bingo, keno players have the freedom to choose the numbers for each card.
Keno cards have a total of eighty numbers, but the gambler is given an additional degree of personal responsibility by being able to choose as numerous (or as few) numbers as he or she needs. And it doesn’t take a doctor of keno to come up with how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark all of your chosen numbers with a ordinarymarker like you used when you were in grade 3.
Now that you’ve marked your numbers, take your game card back to the girl at the keno booth. The person will record your numbers and then give you a receipt. Don’t drop this (potentially) expensive piece of paper! Even if the clerk remembers you and would like to help out, without a winning receipt in hand, you will be given exactly $.00 for your efforts.
So, there you have strategy numero uno: always be sure to keep your keno receipt. Let’s move to something a tiny bit more complicated, ok?
Once you’ve marked your numbers, get into a nice keno booth and watch the action take place on the keno monitor. This is where the winning numbers appear for us. If you selected winning numbers, mark your card appropriately. Sake care not to dilly dally, or sit there congratulating yourself for too great a length of time. You really want to get up to the keno stand to redeem your winnings, since a new drawing will likely get going within not too many minutes.
Strategy number two: always make it back to the keno booth on time!
Assuming you do not trust yourself to make that 5 minute margin each time, you always retain the option of buying a "multi-race" ticket. These include the very same set of your selected numbers on anywhere from 2 to 20 slips. When the maximum amount of keno games (matching the number of tickets) is finished, you should then get off your numb bum and go retrieve your winnings.
Another alternative is recognized as a "stray and play" keno slip, which normally allows you make number selection for 30 games or more. Gosh, you can take vacation to Italy and not have to fret about getting back in time to retrieve your numbers. Most "stray and play" slips are good for up to a whole year after it’s purchased!
